Mary started working at the Architectural Digest Magazine under Paige Rense's supervision after she earned her photojournalism diploma. Then she created the magazine's own Mary Finds section. It featured videos on home decoration and refurbishing. Mary later opened a company located in Texas under the name of her old firm, with a focus on restoration of furniture and antiques. A&E Television producer noticed her when she was managing her antiques business, and asked her to take part in Texas Storage War. Three seasons were devoted to the show. In the fifth season, her fame led to her being a part of Storage Wars. Storage Wars season 5 was her first appearance.
